PowerDeWise Microphone: iPad still recording through the built-in mic problem

If the microphone is connected to an iPad and the iPad records through the built-in microphone instead of the external microphone, take a deep breath, then please carry out the following points:

Please note that there won’t be any special icon indicating that an external microphone has been connected.

In iPads with a headphone jack, the headphone jack was designed for headphones, it’s just like the name sounds.

So, when you plug in anything other than a headphone, it doesn’t indicate that the microphone is plugged in, rather it indicates that a headphone is plugged in, usually at the top of the screen. iPads without a headphone jack may display no icon at all.

iPads that require a Type C USB to 3.5mm jack Adapter (without a headphone jack) may not indicate that something is connected to the phone when the microphone is connected.

Therefore, to know if the microphone is working with your smartphone, you need to carry out the following steps below:
  1. Ensure that the external microphone is properly plugged into the phone’s headphone jack/the 3.5mm end of Type C to 3.5mm Jack Adapter.
  2. Open the voice memo app and press record.
  3. Walk away from your smartphone, let the distance be the full length of the cable of the microphone
  4. Speak into the microphone and tap 3 times.
  5. Walk back to your phone and stop the recording.
  6. Unplug to listen to the recording.

P.S: Please note that only a Type C to 3.5mm Jack Adapter gotten from Apple or the one that comes with PowerDeWise Lavalier Microphone with Type C USB to 3.5mm Jack Adapter package is 100% guaranteed to work with an external microphone. These troubleshooting steps are also applicable to smartphones.

So, if your iPad requires a Type C to 3.5mm Jack Adapter you may need to try the microphone with other devices like a smartphone unless your Type C to 3.5mm Jack Adapter gotten from Apple or other phone brands or the one that comes with PowerDeWise Lavalier Microphone with Type C USB to 3.5mm Jack Adapter package. This is just to eliminate that the Type C to 3.5mm Jack Adapter is not the problem in cases where the Type C to 3.5mm Jack Adapter is not original or from our package.
