MacBook Air built-in speaker stops working after connecting the microphone, what should I do?

If the built-in speaker of your MacBook Air stops working after connecting the microphone to your computer,  relax, take a deep breath, then please note the following points: 

First, this is normal. that the recent MacBook Air generations has one headphone jack, do not recognize external microphones like a Windows PC ones with separate microphone and headphone ports. 

Instead of recognizing the microphone as a microphone it sees as a microphone and headphones at the same time. In other words, your built-in speaker stops work, like it does in a smartphone. So, while you can use it to record, you will need to unplug the microphone to listen to the recording. Specific operating systems don’t even recognize the microphone at all but the built-in speaker of a MacBook pro still stops working

Connecting the microphone through the USB port of your MacBook Pro rather than the headphone port is another way of allowing the external microphone to function independently of the computers built-in speaker.

Furthermore, the USB Soundcard like all USB Adapters has a 3.5mm TRS female microphone port so you’ll need to connect the microphone to the TRRS to TRS (4 to 3 Pin) Adapter. The male end of the TRRS to TRS (4 to 3 Pin) Adapter will be the end going into the USB Soundcard. In other words, the connection is PowerDeWise Lav Mic > TRRS to TRS (4 to 3 Pin) Adapter > USB Soundcard > MacBook Pro

After this,  follow this sequence: Apple menu > System Preferences > Sound > Input. If the sequence is followed correctly, you should see a list of input devices. Select the USB Adapter as your preferred input device. Then click on the “Output” tab, then select your internal speaker as your prefered output option.
